Gentle Baby & Toddler Sleep Training with a Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant
Target Daytime Sleep: 3-4 hours
Wake Windows: 1.5-2.5 hours
Around 4-7 months, many babies begin developing a more predictable sleep rhythm as their circadian rhythm matures. While flexibility is still important, this is often the age when a loose routine starts becoming a true schedule.
The schedule below is intended as a general guideline. Every baby is different and may need adjustments based on temperament, sleep needs, feeding needs, and developmental stage.
7:00 AM Wake, open blinds, bottle/nurse, change diaper, change clothes
7:45 AM Breakfast/Solids (omit if not on solids)
8:00 AM Age-appropriate activities, tummy time, time outside, build sleep pressure
8:45 AM Prepare for nap (books, lullaby, dark room, sleep sack, sound machine, etc.)
9:00-10:30 AM Nap #1 (1.5 hours)
10:30 AM Wake, open blinds, bottle/nurse, change diaper
11:00 AM Lunch/Solids (omit if not on solids)
11:15 AM Age-appropriate activities, floor play, and time outside
12:15 PM Prepare for nap (books, lullaby, dark room, sleep sack, sound machine, etc.)
12:30-2:00 PM Nap #2 (1.5 hours)
2:00 PM Wake, open blinds, bottle/nurse, change diaper
3:00 PM Snack/Purees (omit if not on solids)
3:15 PM Age-appropriate activities, tummy time, build sleep pressure
4:00 PM Prepare for nap (books, lullaby, dark room, sleep sack, sound machine, etc.)
4:15-4:45 PM Nap #3 (30 minutes)
4:45 PM Wake, open blinds, bottle/nurse, change diaper
5:30 PM Dinner/Solids (omit if not on solids), family time and age-appropriate activities
6:15 PM Start bedtime routine (bath, lotion, pajamas, feeding, books, cuddles)
7:00 PM Bedtime
Some younger babies may still need a fourth nap, while some older babies may be preparing to transition to two naps. Use this schedule as a general guideline and adjust based on your baby's individual sleep needs.
