Gentle Baby & Toddler Sleep Training with a Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant
Target Daytime Sleep: 1-2 hours
Wake Windows: 5-6 hours
Many toddlers in this age range continue taking one afternoon nap, while others begin showing signs that they are ready for quiet time instead of sleep. Consistent routines, active play, and plenty of time outside can help support healthy sleep habits.
The schedule below is intended as a general guideline. Every child is different and may need adjustments based on temperament, sleep needs, and developmental stage.
7:00 AM Wake, open blinds, change diaper, get dressed
7:30 AM Breakfast
8:00-10:00 AM Age-appropriate activities, time outside, build sleep pressure, snack
11:00 AM Lunch
11:45 AM Start nap routine (darken room, quiet house, books, etc.)
12:00-2:00 PM Nap (1-2 hours)
2:00 PM Wake, open blinds, change diaper, get dressed, snack
2:30 PM Age-appropriate activities, time outside, and opportunities to build sleep pressure
5:30 PM Dinner
6:00 PM Age-appropriate activities, family time, and opportunities to build sleep pressure
6:45 PM Start bedtime routine (bath, pajamas, brush teeth, books)
7:30 PM Bedtime
As children approach age 3, some begin dropping their nap altogether. If your child no longer naps, consider implementing a daily quiet time instead. Quiet time allows your child to rest and recharge while maintaining a predictable daily routine.
